Pool formwork and concrete shell

This week the pool builders were back, completing formwork, plumbing and concrete shell. We needed a tap installed for the concreting and Wisdom arranged to do this for us.

Now that it is concreted, the pool looks a lot bigger than we thought, which we are happy about. So now that is done, they won't be back til we have the house completed and handed over, which will be some time next year.

Now we wait for the house to start, hopefully it will be early August (keeping fingers and toes crossed!). Currently construction plans are being drawn, we've been told they should be completed in approx 10 days time.

Pool excavation done

The pool guys finished the pool excavation today, ready for formwork and hopefully complete the cement shell next week some time.

Our pool design is a bit different to the usual. The deep end is actually in the middle and shallower at either end. Hopefully will work well with pool games.

The pool has a pretty solid rock base. Was a little worried if it rained before cement is completed, but given the pool shell is mostly rock, I don't think we'll have much of an issue.

Third pile of dirt and rocks

Job done, ready for formwork

Pool build start

Well the house plans have been revised to raise the slab by 200mm. There will now be four steps to the front porch and a landing and step for the laundry door on the side of the house. Good news is the back of the block will now be nearly level to the back of the house, so we may not need any retaining walls there. Not sure about the side yet, we'll look at that once the house slab has been laid.

While we wait for our house construction plans and construction certificate, the pool builder is ready to start construction. Pool peg out has been completed and the pool works scheduled to commence on Tuesday and weather permitting, concreting the following week.
