The pool people were advised mid June that they could come back and do the next stage of the pool - the waterline tiles. That only got finished by mid August. A couple of pics<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.us/a/img10/1117/7b9u.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://imageshack.us/a/img10/1117/7b9u.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>

<br />
The tiler was pretty lazy and left all of his rubbish on site......thanks for that.<br />
<br />
Anyway they did come back and instal the filter last week and have booked in for 9 Sept 2013 to do a pool clean so it is ready for the lining. So we are slowly getting there.<br />
<br />
Hopefully our landscaper can come back this week to built the timber look deck at the back, then we can get the pool fence installed. The lining will only go in once we have a pool fence, but once the lining goes in, then water must follow pretty quickly to fill the pool. We are getting closer to a finished pool.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.us/a/img706/2991/z5l4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://imageshack.us/a/img706/2991/z5l4.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
We also have a bit of a garden at the front of the house......not much but it is a start. Now spring is here, we can start thinking about some lawn. We have had quite a bit of morning frost during winter so we have held off getting turf until now.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.us/a/img836/8517/73mf.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://imageshack.us/a/img836/8517/73mf.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>

<br />
Mainly rain has held us up, a big downpour means we have to wait for the ground to dry out and we've had quite a few of those in the last month. More wet weather is forecast for tomorrow, so I guess that means no work again on Monday.<br />
<br />
We also had a problem with our travertine pavers. We were around 12 sqm short so work stopped til those arrived. Plus we had around 10 sqm of our travertine pavers which our landscaper advised was not suitable to be used. So we rang Amber, this week they came and had a look and agreed to replace them. So the new pavers arrived on Friday and work started again. <br />
<br />
Here are a few pics.......can't wait til it is finished.<br />

Unfortunately not a lot to report, the landscaping and interior decoration has
been rather slow. <br />
<br />For the landscaping, as it involves the pool, things have to be done
in a particular order. First order of business was excavating the land area
surrounding the pool. Next the plumbing of the pool, which only got done a
couple of weeks ago. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.us/a/img18/2460/dscf1503iw.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://imageshack.us/a/img18/2460/dscf1503iw.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.us/a/img823/4041/dscf1515d.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://imageshack.us/a/img823/4041/dscf1515d.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.us/a/img855/6345/dscf1519i.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://imageshack.us/a/img855/6345/dscf1519i.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
Next step, laying the coping. Our landscaper started this week. However when the
concrete pool is laid, the levels at the top are not at the same level. So he
had to first concrete along the top to get the levels right. We are also laying
sand on top of the plumbing ourselves, which has been this weekend's job. So
next week the coping should be laid, the tiler booked in to do the water line
tiles and fill in the rest of the soil around the pool so it is ready for
paving.<br /><br />The back and side fence also due to be done in a weeks time. <br />
<br />
Finally had our kitchen lights installed and finally bought some bar stools<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.us/a/img716/4558/dscf1549pj.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://imageshack.us/a/img716/4558/dscf1549pj.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.us/a/img836/29/dscf1550x.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://imageshack.us/a/img836/29/dscf1550x.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.us/a/img19/7914/dscf1554ud.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://imageshack.us/a/img19/7914/dscf1554ud.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Our home theatre is now in some sort of
order. Just need to decide how many walls we will paint and what colour. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.us/a/img809/1466/dscf1540z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://imageshack.us/a/img809/1466/dscf1540z.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.us/a/img600/1608/dscf1539v.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://imageshack.us/a/img600/1608/dscf1539v.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>

The appliances are now installed and so is the air conditioning, which we have been using during these hot days, it works really well.<br />
<br />
We are noticing how big the rooms are, including the kitchen and huge walk in pantry. We also have lots of storage which is great. With the higher ceilings I can't reach the top cupboards of the kitchen, laundry and my walk in robe. So I'll have to get a few step ladders.<br />
<br />
Just a couple of pics of the kitchen<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.us/a/img826/6783/dscf1436ct.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://imageshack.us/a/img826/6783/dscf1436ct.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.us/a/img585/1502/dscf1437q.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://imageshack.us/a/img585/1502/dscf1437q.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.us/a/img13/1803/dscf1438a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://imageshack.us/a/img13/1803/dscf1438a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.us/a/img16/8545/dscf1440iy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://imageshack.us/a/img16/8545/dscf1440iy.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Our screen doors and flyscreen doors were installed today as well. The frame of the front door and balcony door are in a wood like aluminium to match the timber door. The match is pretty good and blends in well with the timber door frame.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.us/a/img221/3551/dscf1430gn.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://imageshack.us/a/img221/3551/dscf1430gn.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.us/a/img827/9084/dscf1431a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://imageshack.us/a/img827/9084/dscf1431a.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
We are also having a few electrical problems, from time to time our existing fridge keeps triggering the safety switch and shutting off one of the power circuits. We think it is taking a bit longer for the gasses to settle or some wiring in the fridge may have not travelled well with the move. Anyway our new fridge is due to be delivered tomorrow. We are also having electrical problems with our washing machine as well, which also triggers the safety switche. So we are waiting for a service technician to contact us back. The joys of moving!<br />

Arrived at the house to find the front steps and laundry landing had still not been tiled. I think our SS was rather frustrated by this as the tiler promised to be there on Friday, then on Saturday, but no show. Anyway, most outstanding tasks had been done, with just a couple to be fixed in the next couple of days.<br />
<br />
Once the final walk through was completed, we headed to Narellan with our bank cheque. All paperwork was finalised and we received our keys with a lovely gift from Wisdom.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.us/a/img685/937/dscf1422e.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://imageshack.us/a/img685/937/dscf1422e.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
Headed back to the house this afternoon and the tiler had finally come and completed the steps and landing.<br />

We now have a very busy couple of days with a number of deliveries and tradies to the house. <br />
<br />
<br />Onewheelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00160510325040614266noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4954795050152491085.post-79537050899101841302013-03-09T14:10:00.000+11:002013-03-09T15:05:03.059+11:00PCI done - handover bookedThis week was pretty busy. On Monday we had an independent inspection done. Not that we were worried about the quality of the build, which we think is quite good. We just wanted another "expert" pair of eyes to check things over, especially as being novices we might miss something. They didn't spot anything major and commented that the quality of the build was quite good.<br />
<br />
On Wednesday, 6 March 2013 we had our practical completion inspection completed. Nothing major found but lots of little jobs to be completed by handover.<br />
<br />
We now have a handover date - Wed 20 March 2013.<br />
<br />
Lots of things to be organised before then which will keep us pretty busy.<br />
<br />
This week the security fences around the block came down and forwork for the driveway and path completed. On Friday they poured the concrete and it looks great. Just a couple of pics.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.us/a/img694/9316/dscf1371c.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://imageshack.us/a/img694/9316/dscf1371c.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>

<br />
Path along the side of the house<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.us/a/img547/4356/dscf1410u.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://imageshack.us/a/img547/4356/dscf1410u.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
We have been so happy so far with the build and quality of the work. Now we are right at the end, there is one item that I am not happy with.<br />
<br />
The lintel above the front door frame is not wide enough and so the brickwork above the door frame is rather messy. I know I am being extremely picky, but to me this is not a nice finish to
complement the lovely stained timber door. I've been so happy with the quality
of work done so far, so this is just one minor thing I am not happy about.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.us/a/img580/8752/dscf1397o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://imageshack.us/a/img580/8752/dscf1397o.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
We've been provided some suggestions as to how to make this look better, so we'll do this after handover.<br />
<br /><br />

Now we are closer to moving in, we need to decide on what we want and start ordering some items.<br />
<br />
For the pool area and alfrecso, we have decided to have light Travertine pavers. It is a natural stone product and hopefully cooler to walk on during a hot summer day. Here is a sample<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.us/a/img694/4972/classictravertinetumble.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="289" src="http://imageshack.us/a/img694/4972/classictravertinetumble.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here is a picture of the Travertine next to a pool. Now we just need to shop around for a good price.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.us/a/img132/5900/travpooledge4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="218" src="http://imageshack.us/a/img132/5900/travpooledge4.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Today we also ordered our letterbox. After getting some quotes to have one built, it was a bit cheaper to buy a stone one. The store is not far from us so we could go to the showroom to have a look but they also have a pretty good website, which is where we found them initially. They have some beautiful stone letter boxes, in various types of stone, light and dark. We decided to go dark as it will blend in with our driveway which is "Gunmetal", a grey colour similar to the roof tiles. This is the one we have ordered.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.us/a/img43/9042/030bluestonesolidalumin.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://imageshack.us/a/img43/9042/030bluestonesolidalumin.jpg" width="225" /></a></div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.us/a/img577/3889/imag0474z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://imageshack.us/a/img577/3889/imag0474z.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
So we have now had another 24 hours of rain, with more rain forecast tomorrow......so it will be interesting to see how much more water is in there.<br />
<br />
Our formwork for the driveway has also been done. Hopefully they can pour the concrete next week.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
We have decided to get an independent inspection completed before then, as they would know all the things that should be checked that we might miss. No complaints about the work completed by Wisdom, we are very happy so far. We just need an expert set of eyes to check everything for us.<br />
<br />
Meanwhile, DH had a meeting with Wisdom landscapes about our concrete side path, as some adjustments need to be made to the initial plan that was quoted last year. So the driveway and path will now be completed early next week, subject to the weather.Onewheelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00160510325040614266noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4954795050152491085.post-75896579133221544492013-02-22T20:16:00.001+11:002013-02-22T20:16:39.004+11:00Outside worksThis week most of the work has been outside. On Monday, the site was given a complete clean and most of the rubbish taken away. Still lots of rubbish around the temporary pool fence and also in the pool, which has quite a bit of water in it. There is heavy rain forecast for later tonight, so I guess it will fill up even more.<br />
<br />
With the site clean the termite treatment was placed around the house as well.<br />
<br />
Today we arranged to meet at the site at 7am with our pool builder to go through what needs to be done once we have handover of the house. When we arrived, the two brickies were there to build our steps and laundry landing. Plus the house was open, so I had the opportunity to quickly check inside. It looks like the painters had been in because all the touch ups have been done and final staining completed on the balcony door frame.<br />
<br />
Managed to get a couple of pics on the phone. Our garage steps into the house have been tiled.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.us/a/img542/9986/img0099iv.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://imageshack.us/a/img542/9986/img0099iv.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Our first two steps to the stairs have been stained and tie in nicely with our stained handrail.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.us/a/img17/3445/img0100js.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://imageshack.us/a/img17/3445/img0100js.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The laundry landing and steps. The landing will be filled next week and concrete on top. Then it can be tiled.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.us/a/img829/6834/img0119zj.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://imageshack.us/a/img829/6834/img0119zj.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The front steps. These will also be tiled next week</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.us/a/img713/8439/img0114yq.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://imageshack.us/a/img713/8439/img0114yq.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<br />
Just as we finished with our pool builder, the boys building the driveway and side path arrived which was great, as we could answer their questions straight away and confirm stencil pattern, colour etc. They said they are planning to start formwork next Tuesday and concrete pour the next day, subject to the weather.<br />
<br />
Our SS advised if all goes to plan next week, we could have practical completion by next Friday!!! So only 7 days to go...........hopefully the wet weather forecast for tonight and tomorrow will have passed by Tuesday. <br />
<br />
Subject to PCI going well, we could have keys in 3 weeks! Getting excited now.Onewheelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00160510325040614266noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4954795050152491085.post-52517398411997021162013-02-16T16:23:00.000+11:002013-02-16T17:39:02.639+11:00House nearly finishedWe are now heading into our last fortnight until expected practical completion. Most of the work inside is now done with only a few items remaining.<br />
<br />
This week our tiles were laid again for the 2nd time. Thankfully this time they are the one colour. The kitchen splashback has also been installed.<br />
<br />
A visit to the house today and the cleaners were there giving the house its first good clean. Managed to get a few pics.<br />
<br />
Kitchen splashback installed - it is antique white. The lower cupboards are moss grey and the upper cupboards in white. The casearstone is osprey, which ties in the white and moss grey quite well.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.us/a/img404/8971/dscf1226n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://imageshack.us/a/img404/8971/dscf1226n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.us/a/img23/2787/dscf1227p.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://imageshack.us/a/img23/2787/dscf1227p.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
I am looking for some green accessories to go in the kitchen to brighten it up a bit. I saw this same colour scheme in a Wisdom display home that we based our kitchen colours on, so I am keen to replicate that and get some green items. <br />
<br />
I have looked at lots of stores in Sydney and online in Australia but I have not found anything I really like so far. The only ones I have found are only sold in the USA and unfortunately the cost of postage was extreme. However a relative is going over in May, so maybe they can get them for me (fingers crossed).<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here is a pic of the green storage jar. With our kitchen colour scheme, I think many other colours will go well, so when I no longer want green I can change accessories to another colour over the years to come.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The majority of work has been completed inside the house with only a few items that we can see that need to be completed</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
* Painting and touchup to be completed</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
* Sealing around benchtops/ caesarstone/ tiles in bathrooms</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
* Ducted air conditioning vents & air con installed</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
* Trim around window to fill the gaps to the bricks</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
* powerpoint & light covers</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
* stainless steel cutlery draw</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I am sure there are a few other things to be done that we have not noticed yet.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Most of the major work now will be outside and if all goes well we will have pracical completion in two weeks time, weather permitting. Outside items to be completed before practical completion are:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
* Landing with two steps to be built at the laundry door</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
* Four steps built to the front porch</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
* Completion of downpipes and connection to the water tank</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Before hand over:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
* Driveway</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
* Pathway up one side of the house</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Just hope the rain holds up and does not disrupt the outdoor works too much.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
All going well, we should have the keys in approx 4 weeks time. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Then we can start work on the pool and landscaping.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>

Popped up to the house at lunchtime yesterday.........looks like the decision was made to rip up the tiles</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tMcx5EocndI/URdV_CzA9gI/AAAAAAAAAbQ/Bgx2SiRzz8Q/s1600/DSCF1196.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tMcx5EocndI/URdV_CzA9gI/AAAAAAAAAbQ/Bgx2SiRzz8Q/s320/DSCF1196.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The tiles look really grey in the sunlight, yet look a grey brown colour when they are laid inside the house.</div>
<br />
From looking through the window I guess they also need to scrape out the cement from the slab. That must be next weeks job.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yRhp75l1XHY/URdW3DM82NI/AAAAAAAAAbc/ES9vDY8doqA/s1600/DSCF1197.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yRhp75l1XHY/URdW3DM82NI/AAAAAAAAAbc/ES9vDY8doqA/s320/DSCF1197.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Hopefully they'll be able to start the tiling again this
week.<br />

Earlier in the week the tiler was there laying the main floor tiles, which are to go in the leisure room,dining, kitchen, pantry, store room and hallway. From a distance they all looked good. However when the SS went to check the work being done the next day, he cleaned the tiles a bit and he could see that not only were our tiles laid, but here and there a different tile was laid.<br />
<br />
An inspection of the tile boxes confirmed the correct tiles were delivered. Apparently when the boxes were packed, they not only included our tile, but also mixed in was another tile very similar to ours but clearly different. Di Lorenzo and the tile supplier are trying to work our where the error occurred.<br />
<br />
Here is a picture - the odd tiles are the lighter one's<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.us/a/img5/1746/imag0451o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://imageshack.us/a/img5/1746/imag0451o.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Our SS Joe is a champion, who spotted the difference and halted the tiler laying any more tiles (only approx 2 metres not laid towards the front door). He is now trying to get this sorted, which may take a week or so to do. Shame the tiler didn't notice the tiles were a bit different. <br />
<br />
What a headache for our SS to sort out. Anyway, we are waiting on another batch of tiles to see if they are very close to our tiles laid. If they are, then they could knock out the wrong tiles and re tile the correct ones. But if the new batch are a bit different, then all the tiles laid will have to be taken up and then the new batch of tiles re laid.<br />
<br />
Anyway, what's done is done and we are pretty happy of the great job our SS is doing to spot the problem straight away and arranging to get this corrected as soon as possible.<br />
<br />
A quick visit to the house today and found no tradies on site, but timed perfectly with the arrival of the SS. Managed to get some pictures. Very happy with all the other work that has been done.<br />
<br />

Managed to get a couple of pics on the phone.<br />
<br />
The tiler was there, laying our newly chosen tiles.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.us/a/img812/8034/2013housepictures707.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://imageshack.us/a/img812/8034/2013housepictures707.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
As the tiler was still laying the tiles, we couldn't go upstairs to check the other work that has been done. However the carpet has also been laid, managed to get a pic from the study<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.us/a/img703/605/2013housepictures646.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://imageshack.us/a/img703/605/2013housepictures646.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Also the electrican has been to the house and all of our downlights, internal lights and bayonets, external lights, stairwell lights and alarm have now been installed. Just a quick pic of the home theatre main light and the downlights in the dropped ceiling.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.us/a/img341/4383/2013housepictures659.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://imageshack.us/a/img341/4383/2013housepictures659.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The kitchen rangehood and water tank have also been installed. Once the tiles have been finished and we can walk into the house, we'll get some more pics.<br />
<br />
Can't believe how much work has been done the last couple of days. I'm begining to think we might have handover a little earlier than we thought. Onewheelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00160510325040614266noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4954795050152491085.post-37485109311030424092013-01-31T14:32:00.002+11:002013-01-31T14:35:53.343+11:00More progress and new tile selectedReceived a phone call this week from the tile supplier Di Lorenzo advising us the main floor tile we had selected last year, in April 2012, had been delivered to them from the tile supplier and they found it had a design fault through the lot of them and could not be used. Pretty happy that Di Lorenzo have quality control processes in place that picked this up. Hate to imagine the drama's if the floor tile had been laid, then had to be ripped up again.<br />
<br />
So went off today to pick another tile. As our original main floor tile had been selected to go with the kitchen, laundry and downstairs bathroom, we tried to get as close to this so everything matched, as the original tile in a smaller size, which had no design fault, have already been laid in the laundry and powder room.<br />
<br />
Anyway, we managed to find one we liked in the standard range, a little darker than what we had selected previously. They have them in stock, so hopefully they'll process the order asap and they'll get delivered soon. Hopefully the SS can schedule the tiler in soon too.<br />
<br />
Each week more progress at the house. Met with our blinds supplier today on site and while there I took a few snaps of work done of the last week or so. It is all coming along quite well. <br />
<br />
Our front door has been stained in mahogany.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.us/a/img543/1413/dscf1129r.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://imageshack.us/a/img543/1413/dscf1129r.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
So too has the balcony door<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.us/a/img145/9997/dscf1135t.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://imageshack.us/a/img145/9997/dscf1135t.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
Kitchen caesarstone, sink and tap installed. Caesarstone is Osprey<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.us/a/img12/4201/dscf1132t.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://imageshack.us/a/img12/4201/dscf1132t.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Caesarstone groves for drainage have been added<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.us/a/img17/1233/dscf1134ze.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://imageshack.us/a/img17/1233/dscf1134ze.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
My walk in robe has been completed with shelving and hanging rails. Lots of room.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.us/a/img805/1883/dscf1136m.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://imageshack.us/a/img805/1883/dscf1136m.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>

<br />
Our internal doors. Most have been painted now in Taubmans "Big White". On the little paint square you get from bunnings shows the colour as off white. However now it is painted on the walls and doors, it looks white. Still looks good, but I might have chosen a different caesarstone colour on the basins and kitchen if I know it would be so white. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.us/a/img26/7569/dscf1149et.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://imageshack.us/a/img26/7569/dscf1149et.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>

<br />
We also decided on what blinds to have in our house, after thinking about it for 3 months or so, chaning our minds many times on what to have. We obtained 3 quotes, changed our mind again as to what we wanted, then decided finally on shutters for most of the home. So they have now been ordered and hopefully they'll be ready close to the time when we move in. <br />
<br />
We are also getting verticals for the laundry and garage, and block out roller blinds for our 3 door stacker. Here is a pic of the shutters we have ordered, in white.<br />

A cooler day today and we found the painters have started. Only some of the ceilings have been done, so not really much to photograph yet.<br />
<br />
A walk around the house and we found the tiler had also grouted the tiles.........they look sooo much better. <br />
<br />
A couple more pics. Here are our home theatre doors, finally remembered to take a photo. The timber will be stained in a clear stain.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Blown away how much has been done, they certainly have been busy bee's<br />
<br />
In addition to the installation of the other cabinets in the house, two tilers were there working away, plus the carpenters are still going with the skirting boards and doors. <br />
<br />
Front porch now tiled<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.us/a/img407/2685/p1040561.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://imageshack.us/a/img407/2685/p1040561.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Feature tiles in the ensuite shower.......very hard to decide whether to have the feature tiles horizonal or vertical......eventually we decided on vertical. Still getting used to it, hopefully it will grow on me. Looking forward to it being grouted, I am sure it will look much better once that is done. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
The hive of activity at the house....looking from the front door towards the kitchen & living areas. You can just see the home theatre on the right. It's all happening!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.us/a/img545/9950/p1040595w.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://imageshack.us/a/img545/9950/p1040595w.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The bath has been delivered, ready to be installed, plus lots of floor tiles.</div>

<br />
On another note, we also ordered our first purchase for the house.....a lounge for the home theatre, something like this pic. Ours will be a little bit darker than this one.<br />

Today the carpenter was there working on the door frames and installing the doors. As most tradies are starting to wind up for the year, there probably won't be any other work done til January 2013.<br />
<br />
SS was hopeful the kitchen would go in before Xmas but the timing didn't workout with the manufacturer.<br />

<br />
And the chipped brick on the balcony I mentioned from an earlier post.....well that was for the electrician as that is where they drilled through for the electrical wires, as we are having a powerpoint in that spot and I forgot! <br />
<br />
Last week they also installed the cornices over 2 days. They are decorative in most areas of the house except the walk in robes, pantry etc<br />

<br />
The roof tilers were also back to cement the lower floor ridge capping.<br />
<br />
Today, the staircase was installed.....and we love it! The hand rail will be stained. Also the edging where the balustrade is will be stained, as will the bottom two steps.<br />
